Using the Wizard: When you open Publisher you will be confronted with a wizard screen. Within this is many different, ready made, forms you can use to give you an idea of how to lay your publication out. These include letter heads, advertising leaflets, news letters, business cards and many more. There is even a wizard that will create various different types of origami.

Working With Objects: If you don't want to use the wizard you can always cancel the wizard so that you start with a blank document. Your objects are located on the left hand side and if you move the mouse pointer over them it will tell you what they are. A text object can be placed on your document, but unlike Word you can move this text object anywhere on your document and you can re-size the object. If you then right click on the object you will have a floating menu which contains the properties relevent to that object.
