Creating Your Database: Access is a database application. This can be used for storing information like household bills, standing orders and direct debits, friends and family information and insurance details. Remember, a database table contains a collection of fields, a collection of fields contains information about a client or product or company.

If you double click the Access icon on your desktop or open it by other means you will be confronted with a dialog box with 3 options. Blank Access Database is for the more advanced user, however, you can choose the option that says Access Database Wizards, Pages and Projects. This provides you with a wizard that will guide you through creating a database that you require and will at the end create it for you. It will also create a Form for you which is an interactive front end to your table. This is used for user friendly viewing, inputting and editing of your details that you store in your table.

Access can also be used to produce standard letters that you might send frequently to customers or companies. This is a little more complex but once you're used to Access it should be a simple procedure.
